Dr Pranav Kumar, senior consultant neurosurgeon, moved to this hospital from the Hinduja Hospital, Bombay in 1996. A product of Benares Hindu University, he has had specialised training in microsurgery at the National Neurosurgical Centre, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Ireland. He has over 25 years of experience in neurosurgery.
He is a pioneer;he hassuccessfully performed several ‘Auditory Brainstem Implant’ - anextremely complex surgery wherein a bionic device is placed in brainstem to restore hearing in patients who are completely deaf but cannot be helped with a cochlear implant. There are very few hospitals in the world where this surgery is being carried out.
A meticulous surgeon, surgical videos of his surgery have been screened at various neurosurgical conferences for their nuances, neatness and surgical skill.
