- <p>Dr. Saumitra Rawat did his medical graduation in 1987 from prestigious Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi followed by Master of Surgery from the same institution. In 1995, he went to England for higher super-specialist training, where he was extensive. trained in world-class centers. He was subsequently appointed Consultant and an Honorary Consultant Surgeon at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, East Cheshire NHS Trust and Christie Hospital respectively. These are internationally recognized Centre’s of Excellence. Dr. Rawat has an impressive list of fellowships, which includes FRCS (Glasgow), FRCS (Edinburgh), FRCS (England) and FRCS(Intercollegiate). After a very distinguished career in the UK, Dr. Rawat returned to his country in 2012. Dr. Rawat is Chairman and Head, Department of Surgical Gastroenterology & Liver Transplant Department at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. This department is one of the largest and among the best in the country and major one internationally. He is also serving as an Honorary Consultant Surgeon at Christie's NHS Foundation Hospital, Manchester, UK. For his distinguished work, he was appointed Member, Court of Examiner, Royal College of Surgeon of England. Dr. Rawat is a pioneer in bringing up laparoscopic and robotic surgery for GI cancer in Sir Ganga.<br></p>
